Stated Meeting

 

December 6, 2008

 

BALLUT ABYAD TEMPLE AAONMS met in regular session this 6th day of December AD 2008 at 1:00 PM, it was the regular stated meeting for December.  The following officers were present:

The meeting was opened in regular form at 1:00 PM

 

Noble George Hunsaker, Chaplain gave the invocation; the Legion of Honor presented the Colors, the Pledge of Allegiance was given, Noble Barney Doyl accompanied by the Band played the National Anthem and the Colors were posted.

  

The Potentate asked if there were any visitors or new members attending for the first time.   There were none.

The Nobility welcomed the Past Potentates

 

The Potentate asked for the reading of the minutes from the last meeting.

A motion came from the floor to accept the minutes as written. The motion was seconded and passed.

 

No petitions for initiation were presented.  

 

The Potentate then asked for the necrology report.  We had 2 Nobles who rode the Black Camel.  They were Nobles James A. Dye, and Fred A. Thoothman,    The Nobility stood uncovered while the band played appropriate music.

 

There were 2 demits requested.  They were   Charles A. Miller, and Merrill B. Thomas.  Since they was clear on our records the demits were granted by the Potentate.

 

The Treasurer then presented the financial report and asked that it be approved.  The motion was seconded and passed.  A copy of the report is available in the Recorders office.

 

The next order of business was the election of officers for the year 2009.

4.      Election of Representatives to the Imperial Council.

 

Note:  Imperial By-laws state: (325.9) Representatives.

 

A.     Where a Temple elects more than one Representative, all candidates must be balloted for on one written ballot.

B.     Each member voting must vote only for the total number of Representatives to be elected, otherwise his ballot cannot be counted as a vote.

C.     A majority vote of those present and voting is necessary to elect each Representative.

D.     Only those candidates who receive a majority vote shall be declared elected.

E.     Successive written ballots must then be taken in the same manner on other candidates until all Representatives are elected.

F.    If more candidates receive a majority vote than the number of Representatives to be elected then those receiving the greatest number of votes shall be declared elected.

G.     Blank ballots are not votes.

 

            The Candidates for Representatives to the Imperial Council are:

The Potentate then asked for any unfinished business.  There was none.

 

The Potentate then asked for miscellaneous business.  There was none.

 

The Potentate then asked for new business.

 

Noble Hedrick asked to speak.  Permission was granted.  He reminded the new officers of the Divan and the nobles present that the installation of officers would be on Saturday, January 3, 2009 starting at 5:30 PM.  He also reminded everyone that the installation of unit officers would be January 9, 2009 at 5:30 PM ,  the unit head meeting would be Monday, January 5,2009 at 6:00 PM and that the stated meeting would be Monday, January 12, 2009 starting at 7:00 PM.

 

Noble Almeter asked to speak. Permission was granted.  He thanked everyone for making the Military Ball such a success.  He especially thanked the veterans for coming in uniform.  He reminded all of those present that pictures were in the lobby.

 

Noble Hathaway came forward and asked to be heard.  The Potentate gave his permission.  He noted that the Hobbs Shrine Club had done an exceptional job with the children’s clinic and commended them as an example of how the hospital program should be handled in the state of New Mexico.

 

Noble Shepherd rose and reminded everyone that the Patrol drawing would be held December 14, 2008 and that there would be 19 chances to win.

 

P.P. Driskill reminded those present that there was to be a New Years Eve party starting at 8:30 PM on December 31, 2008.  There will be dancing and a breakfast will be served at 12:15 AM January 1, 2009.  Price $15.00 per person.

 

There being no further business, the Potentate closed the meeting in the short form at 3:37 PM.
