The Ballut Abyad Hospital Transportation Fund is a 501(C)3 fund and all donations to this fund are Tax Deductible.  The Transportation Fund is separate accounting and banking from the general account for the Fraternal operation of the Temple, and separate from the operation of the Center building .

The Monies in this Fund are held strictly for the Transportation of Children and their accompanying parent to a Shrine Hospital or to one of our Mini Clinics held in Albuquerque and Hobbs.  The operation of our Tele Clinic where patients enrolled in our program are examined by Los Angles Doctors over the Internet.  This not only saves us many thousands of dollars each year, but it save the wear and tear on the patient and their families being examined in Albuquerque instead of flying to Los Angles or Salt Lake City.

The sources of income to the Transportation Fund originate from, Wills and Bequests, Memorial Remembrances, and Honorariums.  I love the question we should each ask ourselves each morning    "Did I take care of a Child yesterday"?

We have three Nobles who donate their time and money to travel to and to participate on two Hospitals Boards.  Nobles Jim Shepherd and Orvis Creel are on the Board of Directors at the Los Angles Children's Hospital, and Noble Don McLeod is on the Board of Directors at the Intermountain Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.  We owe these three Nobles and their predecessors, Nobles Frank Hager, Jim McPherson,  PP H. B. Horn, and PP John Simons a tremendous round of applause for the dedication they have given to the successful operation of the Shrine Children's Hospitals.  When you see on of these Nobles remember to say Thank You!

Our Potentate, William Broughalls' slogan this year is "Children Are Our Business"!

The following is an excerpt from the Recorders Report on our the activities of our Transportation Fund in 2007.

Hospital Chairman Frank Hager and his helpers directed another successful year for the Hospital Program, with the Outreach Clinics in Albuquerque and Hobbs continuing to save us large amounts of money for our Transportation Fund. The statistics are as follows:

          New patients added:  32

          Examined at Clinics 255

Sent to Inter-Mountain, Salt Lake: 1

          Galveston: 13

          Houston: 15

          Los Angeles: 109

Other Hospitals: St. Louis, (1); Philadelphia, (1);  Chicago, (1);  Sacramento, (6)

We now have a total of 444 children in the program, with 160 of that number coming from Mexico. The total amount spent on the program this year is $ 128,000.00.  Without the Outreach Clinics, the cost would have been $100,000.00 higher.

Once again, thanks to the Nobility and their Ladies for supporting this program.
