May Chatter News

The Espanola Valley Shrine Club has been working closely with Valley Lodge #69.  On December 4, 2007, 4 bikes were donated as part of the “Read to Ride” program. These bikes were later awarded to 4 students at Mountain View Elementary School along with a gift of $1,100 to provide Christmas presents for needy children in their school. The next donation for “Read to Ride” took place on March 28th where 4 more bikes were awarded to students at James H. Rodriguez (Espanola) Elementary School. Along with new president, Daniel Honaberger, came a change of meeting place. It is now held at Valley Lodge #69 on the first Tuesday at 6:30 PM. Food is catered at a nominal fee of $5.00 per person and there is a door prize at the end of each meeting. On a sad note, long-time and very active Noble Ross Livermore passed away on April 19th.  Noble Livermore was our present treasurer, phone caller and all-around organizer. Brother Livermore was also very active in Blue Lodge – mentoring and coaching all new members through their degrees. In addition, he served as secretary for many years. Brother Livermore will be sorely missed! In May, Girl Scout Troop 85 will be giving a dinner for the Masons and Shriners in a show of appreciation for use of Valley Lodge #69.                                                                                          Angela Honaberger reporting

October Chatter News

The Espanola Valley Shrine Club sponsored a 9 year old little boy to the Telemedicine facility at the Shrine Temple in Albuquerque on the 22nd of September with the hope that he will be eligible for surgery at the L.A. Shriners Hospital.

Due to the combined efforts of the Shrine Club and Valley Lodge #69 in Espanola, a donation was taken up and tie-down straps for the family van to stabilize his wheelchair were provided. We will keep you informed as to his progress.

The Valley Tri-Rodders went to Albuquerque on the 8th of September to participate in the State Fair Parade. As always, it was great to see the faces of the young spectators.
