STATED MEETING

 

   STATED MEETING MINUTES

 March 9. 2009

 

Ballut Abyad Temple  AAONMS  met in regular session this 9th day of March AD 2009.   It was the regular stated meeting for March. 

 

The following officers were present:

The meeting was opened in regular form at 7:30 PM.

 

Noble Tom Davis, Chaplin, gave the invocation, the Legion of Honor presented the Colors, the Pledge of Allegiance was given, the Band played the National Anthem and the Colors were posted.

 

The Potentate asked if there were any first time visitors and Roy Patton, PP. introduced his son Mike Patton of Midland, Texas.
To the Nobility. 

 

The Potentate then introduced the following Past Potentates:

The Nobility welcomed the Past Potentates.

 

The Potentate asked for a reading of the minutes from the last meeting.  A motion came from the floor to accept the minutes as written.  The motion was seconded and passed. 

 

There were eight(8) petitions for the following individuals: 

Joseph B. Lanphere, Las Vegas, NM; 

Nicholas S. Lester, Albuquerque, NM;

Rudolph Laumbach, Las Vegas, NM;

Oliver R. Simi, Los Alamos, NM;

Mitchell A. Ullom, Espanola, NM;

Clint E. Waldrop, Los Alamos, NM;

Jose D. Estrada, Albuquerque, NM;

Jimmy Allen Moreau, Artesia, NM.  

A ballot was taken on these eight and five more previously read to the Nobility and all were elected. 

 

The necrology report was then given for the following 12 Nobles:

The following Nobles filed for demits for personal reasons which were accepted:  Neil T. Rivard and Jack L. Wilkins.

 

Treasurer Larry Bennett read the treasurer’s report which was approved and motion to pay our bills was seconded and passed by the Nobility.  The report is attached to these minutes. 

 

P.P. Dion Newhouse read the results of an investigation by a special committee concerning a smoking ban in the Shrine Temple and a vote by the Nobility on the ban. The Potentate directed that a vote be taken on whether of not to ban smoking in the stated meeting of April 13, 2009.  Also the Nobility will be advised in writing concerning the smoking vote and a vote on the change of Temple By-laws. 

 

First and Second Ceremonial Masters Wilson and Paixao announced the upcoming Ceremonial on March 13-14, 2009, and events to occur.  They also advised the Nobility that there is to be a “Hot Sands” Ceremonial at White Sands, NM, in June. 

 

Director Johnnie Smith explained the events planned for Ceremonial.

 

Noble Jerry Scoggins advised the Nobility that the annual Knights of Columbus-Shriners ST. Patrick’s Day Luncheon on Friday March 13, 2009.  He said tickets are on sale until 3/10/09, ONLY.  No tickets will be sold at the door. 

 

Parliamentarian and Hospital Chairman Adam Hathaway filled in the Nobility regarding the Hobbs mini-clinic, said they saw 35 children and the next mini-clinic in Albuquerque will be on May 16.  NM Grand Lodge will meet 3/19-3/20/09, at the Marriot Hotel, and have a banquet and breakfast at the Shrine. 

 

A memorial service will be held at the Shrine for Nobles who have ridden the “Black Camel” in the past year on Sunday, March 29, 2009.  Brunch is at 11:30 AM and the service is at 1:00PM, in the auditorium.  The Patrol will act as Honor Guard.

 

High Priest and Prophet Joe Shelton advised IHOP day brought in over $13,0000 this year and thanked and congratulated everyone for a job well done.  Unit Heads well then called forward for a group photograph.  Roswell was the best in the state with over $1,901, Santa Fe $1,281; Las Cruces, $1,031; Clovis $1,142 and Hobbs., $1,100. 

 

Young Guns “Little Jeff” Ockerman announced there will be an Easter Egg Roll held at the Shrine,  Finger food, hot dogs FREE, Three age groups.

 

Legion of Honor, Martin Lucker presented Potentate pins from Tulsa and Oklahoma City to Potentate Hedrick, Joe Shelton, John Blumenthal and Ray St. John.

 

Provost members Jerry Scoggins, Bruce Cass, Charlie Cameron and Kim Hoggatt presented the banner displayed and written on by customers at the Provost IHOP to be sent to the Los Angeles Hospital. By Hospital Chairman Hathaway.   

 

Noble Hathaway explained his credentials as a parliamentarian and tests taken to qualify with state and national boards.

 

There being no further business, the Potentate closed the meeting in the short form at 8:37 PM.
