MATANZA

What a Tremendous Success!!- 400 ~ 500 people came out to the Shrine Center on a Saturday afternoon and ate and ate and ate some more.

The Ritual Staff  of the Temple deserves a standing ovation.  They fronted the entire cost of this extravaganza.  The Bar Bill was $999.99 and the food was $850.00, not including Mr. Pig.  Mr. Pig was donated by a Brother. Oh! and by 7:00pm there wasn't any food left!

Our thanks and our Hats are off to Nathan Calloway, Josh Lightle, Aaron Andreas, Robert Paixao, Tony Muniz and Jeff Jordan and all  those who pulled together as a Team and made this event tremendous .

The excitement about this party is that A UNIT on their own made a contribution to the cause of the Craft.  They put their money where their mouth is.  The wasn't a program. There were no speeches, no pressure talks, just a fun afternoon of Masons/Shriners gathered.

Now my Brethren here's the bottom line: there were 15 petitions signed by men for the Masonic Degrees and another 12 petitions received for the Shrine.

Now, you might be asking … What is a MATANZA?

Well, the definition is not in your family’s College Edition of the Webster’s Dictionary.  So, you will have to call Tony Muniz or rely on the following Gringo description.

That being, in this case … a 450 pound pig, which is slow-cooked in the ground (on site) and, when well done, is served, with trimmings & tools (on a plate), to the gathering multitudes.  The gathering multitudes will be you and yours.

The idea, of course, is to have fun, reintroduce ourselves to each other, and, yes, introduce the Shrine to our friends & families.
