My Brethren, I want to relate this Bold Story to you.  Your newly installed Potentate, Lonnie Hedrick, recognized early last fall in planning for the 2009 Shrine year that the Temple was financially short on operating funds.  He felt that to carry out the class type programs he knew the Nobility expected of the Temple that he needed additional funding for his Budget.

He came up with the idea of having a Harley Davidson Motorcycle Raffle to raise some of the additional funding.  By New Mexico Law an item that is put up for public raffle must have a free and clear title.  Lonnie and Margaret talked it over and then they wrote their personal check and paid for the Harley FLHXStreetGlide150opt.jpgFLHX Street Glide .

Lonnie is a Bold Leader, and between he and Margaret they were positive that at least 400 tickets could be sold to cover their cost for the purchase of the bike.  BOLD, yes sir, as it was their personal money at risk and not the Temples.

Bikes_300opt.jpgThe Raffle was held last Sunday, the 25th, and what a tremendous event it was.  There were over 250 people at the Harley Party, and even the biking community was there in support of this Bold Venture and your Potentate’s initiative.

Hey Look, your newly installed Recorder,  Ron Page, was the lucky winner of this beautiful dream machine.

The rumor around the Center is that Ron is now shopping for a Harley Head Scarf and a Black Leather Jacket.

Now as Paul Harvey would say:  “The Rest of the Story”

The report is that the Raffle has Cleared over $24,000.00 for the Temple.  My Brethren, this is raw Bold Leadership, from a Noble who had been your Potentate for only 23 days.  Illustrious Lonnie, we the Nobility appreciate your Leadership.  You have showed us that it can be done and done with class.  Our Congratulations to you on Style!  “You walked the Talk.”

Sincerely,

Norm Ribble PP
