Grand Master of Masons in New Mexico
M. W. Brother David L. Baker was installed as Grand Master at 8:45pm on Friday, March 20th, 2009 at the Marriott Hotel in Albuquerque at the 132nd annual Session of the Grand Lodge of New Mexico.
M. W. Brother Baker has been a Noble in Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple for 16 years, and an active member of the Rio Abajo Shrine Club in Belen, NM.
M. W. Brother Baker operates an Independent Insurance Agency in Belen and Rio Communities. He was responsible for the Scottish Rite Learning Center Partnership between Bethlehem Lodge #56, and the New Mexico Scottish Rite Foundation which held it's Grand Opening this February. M. W. Brother Baker served as Master of Bethlehem Lodge # 56 in 1995.

Kit Carson Award for 2009
Noble Jose Dominic Vasquez, and his wife Teresina after being honored as the 2009 recipient of the Kit Carson Award. This Award is presented annually by the Grand Lodge to the Outstand Mason in New Mexico. Jose Vasquez was born in Chacon, NM in 1917, and graduated from Menaul High School in Albuquerque in 1935 as did his future wife Teresina. He received his Bachelors Degree from UNM in 1939 and his Masters of Art Degree from Highlands University in 1947. He was made a Master Mason in Chapman Lodge #2 in Las Vegas in 1950, and has served as Master, Secretary, and Treasurer, and is also a Past Master of Union Lodge #4. He has served the Grand Lodge as a District Deputy Grand Master, and District Deputy Grand Lecture. Noble Vasquez belongs to the York Rite Bodies, the Easter Star, the Lodge of Research and Ballut Abyad Temple. He is a Rotarian and a recipient of the Frank Harris Award.
He taught school in Wagon Mound, Espanola, Trementina, San Jose, Las Vegas and retired as the Superintendent of East Las Vegas Schools in 1978. He and Teri are members of the Mora Presbyterian Church. He is an Educator, a Spokesman, a Community Builder, an Exemplary Mason and a Noble of this Temple . Noble Vasquez, we too are inspired by your life's journey of excellence. You honor us and we congratulate you.

Grand Lecture
Noble Danny Lucero was installed as the Grand Lecture of the Grand Lodge of New Mexico this Friday Evening. Noble Danny is very active in Ballut Abyad. He has been a tireless worker with the Locomotive Unit on our Circus Committee. He is a Past Master of Temple Lodge #6. He is currently in the Line in the York Rite Bodies, and is a 33* Scottish Rite Mason. Danny's wife, Juanita, was raised in Chacon, NM and commented at the presentation of the Kit Carson Award to Noble Vasquez that had Brother Vasquez been her teacher when she was in school.

Noble Burgess Bailey and his fiancé, Catherine. Noble Bailey was installed as the Grand Marshall of the Grand Lodge of New Mexico. Burgess has for the last two years been the Wagon Master of the Nomads, where he served with an exciting commitment. Noble Bailey we know you will do the Grand Lodge Honor in your capacity as the Grand Marshall. Our Congratulations to you. Oh! too you have picked a sparkling lady with a wonderful personality to be your wife.
